Ingredients
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/3 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
(ideally 1/2 cup Droste and 1/4 cup Hersheys)
3/4 cup heavy cream
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 dash of salt
Instructions
In a 1-quart microwave-safe glass bowl, combine brown sugar, granulated sugar, and cocoa powder. Stir in cream and mix well. Cut butter into six pieces and push down into the mixture. Heat in the microwave on high 1½ to 2 minutes. Stir well with a silicone spatula. Heat 1 to 1½ minutes longer until bubbly and sugars are dissolved. Stir in vanilla and salt. Store in the fridge in a glass container with a lid. Reheat in the microwave about 1 minute and stir to serve. Will keep about a month in the refrigerator.
Notes from Mom
This recipe is best with 2 parts Dutch processed cocoa (Droste brand) to 1 part Hersheys cocoa powder. Droste is expensive (about twice the price of Hersheys), and you may have to ask where it is in Stop & Shop. Lunardi’s has it with the specialty chocolate bars, not with the baking supplies. You can also make the recipe with just Hersheys, and it will still be good.

Mom
